Service Description

RESTRICTIONS Minimum age: 14 AIM To teach the key safety and rescue techniques for flat or sheltered water. WHO IS IT FOR? This qualification is a prerequisite for anyone wishing to attend the Paddlesport Instructor Award course. PREREQUISITES • You must be a member of British Canoeing • You must have some kayak / canoe experience to attend this course. Swimming - Able to swim in normal paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing conditions. Boat-based candidates - must also hold the current Explore Kayaking Award, 2 Star Award or be of equivalent ability due to the paddling environment and the boat control required to complete the course. Bank-based participants - accessing the course are not required to hold a Personal Performance Award. However, they should be prepared to fully participate in all relevant aspects of the course. First Aid - a certificate is not required, however we highly recommend this for all paddlers and it will be required for those taking Instructor/Leader assessments. ASSESSMENTS Attendance of this course will not necessarily get you up to the required standard to pass as everyone progresses at a different pace. If you are successful, certificate fees are included in the course cost. Those unsuccessful will be given an action plan to gain the required experience to pass the award. British Canoeing
