Paddle Start, Discover, Explore Award

Paddle Start, Discover and Explore Awards are three separate awards that can be completed as a stand alone award or concurrently. This allows you to tailor your paddling development and learning to what you want and need. Paddle Start is the first building block then Discover and then Explore these awards all build upon the previous one so are a great first steps when getting into paddling.

The Start Award teaches you how to choose and effectively use equipment, and develop an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling. This gives you the confidence to progress to making your own choices. Working with our instructors you will be able to develop a program that suits what you need. This award recognises your ability to independently paddle your chosen craft in a sheltered water environment. There are no pre requisites for this award.

The Discover Award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, as you become a more skilled and independent paddler. This award builds on the foundations introduced in the Start Award.

The Explore Award allows you to become independent on the water, go on self-guided adventures and know how to control your craft and stay safe on the water, this is the award for you. You will learn to take ownership of your  decisions and learn to make confident choices, based on the places you paddle, wind and weather.
